More than 40% of the population don’t know how much sugar they should be consuming – no more than 30g per day – and a survey by Nairn’s New Zealand shows there’s an increasing number of Kiwis who are keen to decrease the amount of sugar in their diet but aren’t keen to sacrifice the taste of their food.
Evidence shows that excess sugar consumption over term can cause obesity, diabetes, heart disease and can raise blood pressure. With this in mind, Nairn’s introduced its lowest sugar biscuit, the Coconut & Chia Oat biscuit to the New Zealand market. High in , it contains 55% less sugar than the average sweet biscuit on supermarket shelves. And did you know, that oats are packed with good carbs that release energy slowly which can help keep you going for longer?
They’ve been baking with oats from farms in the Scottish Borders since 1896 and pride themselves on using the best quality ingredients to create simple, natural and wholesome products that support a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

focus HQ was sent a selection of assorted and Nairn’s biscuits which we shared with staff in our building. We received a big thumbs up for the Coconut and Chia biscuits (delicious) and the Stem Ginger bickies – I mean, who doesn’t love ginger? We then ‘dressed up’ the biscuits – Oatcakes and Ancient Grain Oatcakes – with Avocado and Sweet Chilli Salsa on the former and a Salmon Pâté with Lemon Dill and on the latter. These oatcakes made a perfect blank canvas for toppings! Everything was demolished in record time and everyone wanted to know if this will be a regular thing. Not!
Available at all the major supermarket chains, we can definitely recommend popping a box of Nairn’s into your shopping trolley.
