Dry July NZ Trust introduces Dry(ish) July – a unique, 2020-only version of the annual Dry July campaign to raise vital funds for people affected by cancer that this year lets you decide how long you’re willing to go dry for.
Dry July has always been a pretty straight forward initiative: alcohol-free month for a good cause and your own health benefits. But with everything going on in the world right now, Dry July NZ Trust has decided to include a few new options and encourage even more people to join the fundraiser. Apart from going dry for 31 days, you can choose to do it for 21, 14 or any other number of days you feel comfortable with.
‘We need as many people as possible to get involved with Dry July this year. That’s why, for the first time in Dry July NZ’s 8-year history, we’re giving Kiwis the opportunity to choose how long to go dry for, to help raise much-needed funds for cancer patients and their families,’ – said Dry July NZ Trust CEO and Co-Founder, Brett Macdonald.
Since it’s launch in 2012, the campaign has inspired 37,000 Kiwis to go dry, raised $5.1 million for people affected by cancer and funded more than 170 projects for 15 beneficiary organisations nationwide.
As always, funds raised by Kiwis will support the Look Good Feel Better organisation – a charity that provides free, community-based programmes for any person, facing any cancer, at any time. Look Good Feel Better Classes support cancer patients impacted by the visible and emotional effects of their diagnosis and treatment.
But this year, there are also two new beneficiaries to the Dry July NZ Trust family – Bowel Cancer New Zealand and Prostate Cancer Foundation New Zealand.
