In focus: Emily in Paris, NEXT! bacon and other things we loved

Every two weeks we share all the stuff we’ve recently enjoyed – from the latest TV shows to must-try foods and the most exciting spots to visit in New Zealand.

Emily in Paris

From Darren Star, the creator of Sex and The City and Younger (one of our fav funny TV shows), comes this new Netflix eye candy. A 20-something marketing specialist from Chicago, Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), moves to Paris to provide an ‘American perspective’ to a French marketing firm. Full of clichés, predictable coincidences and breathtaking views of Paris, this TV show will leave you googling tickets to Paris no matter the situation in the world.

Beyond Burger®, Beyond Meat®

By far, the ‘meatiest’ and juciest vegan burger we’ve tried! Its texture is the closest to that of beef you’ll find on the market. It even has white specks that reminded us of marbling, only with Beyond Burger® these are made of coconut oil and cocoa butter.

These patties have 20g of plant-based protein per serving, thanks to a combination of pea, mung bean, and rice. Beef patties, for example, normally have around 27g of protein and a lot of vegan alternatives struggle to compete. What Beyond Burger® DOESN’T have, though, are any GMOs, soy, or gluten.

The fact that it only needs to be cooked for only four minutes on each side certainly adds a couple of bonus points, ’cause no one wants to spend half a day by the grill.

We understand now why the company has been struggling to keep up with demand when they only launched this product a year and a half ago.

NEXT! Bacon

Another impressive vegan alternative to meat.

This bacon looks, smells and sizzles like the real thing! Trust a person, who grew up with ‘salo’ (or cured pork fat) always stacked up in the fridge – kind of an obligation for every Russian. I haven’t touched meat for at least eight years but childhood memories tend to be the most vivid ones and frying NEXT! Bacon was like going back down memory lane.

Each pack contains 10 mouthwatering rashes.

The same flavour but without animal cruelty, excessive cholesterol and negative effects on the environment? Yes, please!

Available at Countdown stores.

Micro-Pore Mist, Dermalogica

The latest edition to Dermalogica’s Clear Start range, this pore-minimising mist refreshes, controls oil and diminishes the appearance of pores.

An antioxidant-rich blend of Witch Hazel, Green Tea and Matricaria Flower is responsible for the pore-tightening effect, while Cucumber Extract gives the toner its light and refreshing aroma.

To reduce the brands packaging footprint, Micro-Pore Mist is encased in 50% Post-Consumer Resin — a clean recycled plastic.

Available at authorised Dermalogica Skin Centres, select Life Pharmacies, Department Stores and online.
RRP $36
