Every two weeks we share all the stuff we’ve recently enjoyed – from the latest TV shows to must-try foods and the most exciting spots to visit in New Zealand.
Nellie Tier Hand Wash
We’ve reviewed a number of products from Nellie Tier – shampoo and conditioner, Rosewood and Myrrh Night Cream and Night Oil and we’ve loved them all! So, it was really great to receive their new hand wash and natural antiseptic hand lotion to try out too.
Nellie Tier is well-known for their range of luxurious liquid soaps and body washes and this limited new edition product is no exception. With the Health Ministry constantly emphasising the importance of washing our hands well and often, Nellie Tier launched an antibacterial natural hand wash onto the market. The product is a powerhouse of antibacterial and antiseptic goodness with natural products including Mānuka honey, aloe vera and essential oils, including tea tree and lavender.
The hand wash ingredients have been combined in a glycerine enriched wash which lathers easily and leaves your hands feeling clean and soft. It does have a slight antiseptic smell but it is really pleasant.
As Nellie Tier was swamped with orders for their hand wash, they decided to develop a natural antiseptic and antimicrobial hand lotion to work in conjunction with the hand wash. Using thyme honey, tea tree, aloe vera gel and loads of gorgeous nourishing oils such as macadamia, rosehip, Evening Primrose and wheatgerm, the hand lotion absorbs into your skin quickly and takes only a few minutes before any oily feeling has completely gone. It also has a clean antiseptic type smell but it’s not overpowering.
We love the fact that Nellie Tier is 100% New Zealand made and owned and that their entire range is free of parabens, sodium laurel sulphates and any chemicals. Both products come in 300ml pump bottles.

Mānuka Essentials Skin Oil
Last year we reviewed the Ultimate Skin Oil by Manuka Essentials and loved it so much that we purchased more bottles for Christmas presents.
Realising that each skin type has different needs, Mānuka Essentials has now brought out custom formulated plant-based oils for specific skin types – Mature, Acne Prone, Dry, Combination, Normal and Oily.
I was given the Mature Skin Oil to try out. The key ingredient in all the Skin Oils is East Cape Mānuka Oil which is highly antibacterial and offers a wide range of healing properties. It also moisturises and conditions your skin, is non-comedogenic (which means it doesn’t clog your pores) and alleviates issues with dry skin and reduces flaking.
I love this oil – it’s a fabulous treat once you’ve removed your makeup at the end of the day. It does need a bit of time to be absorbed into the skin but my skin always feels hydrated, nourished and pampered when I use it. The ingredients also claim to boost elasticity, detoxify, revive and regenerate skin which is a definite plus. It has a very slight aroma – nothing overpowering at all.
Made locally (Bay of Plenty, New Zealand), the product contains a number of other beneficial oils including argan, jojoba, sweet almond, ylang-ylang, geranium, Himalayan cedarwood, açai and blackcurrant seed. It’s also great to know that 50 cents from every bottle purchased is donated to The Reforestation Fund to help look after and revitalise our native forests.
Products can be purchased directly from their website manukaessentials.com

Radiance Hair, Skin & Nail Beauty Gummies
Thirty years ago, Radiance set a goal to help Kiwis lead healthier lives and, through research and using premium quality ingredients, developed innovative natural health formulas that included support for immunity, mobility, beauty, family and kid’s health.
Nothing much has changed except for the fact that they have updated their packaging to be more eco-friendly and sustainable and now offer their formulas in 100% reusable and recyclable aluminium tins.
Two of the products that we were sent to try included two of their Gummy products – the Vitamin C + Zinc orange flavoured Gummies and the tropical flavoured Hair, Skin and Nail Beauty Gummies – both of which are 99% sugar free.
The Vitamin C + Zinc combination supports healthy immunity, seasonal wellness and healthy skin whilst the Hair, skin and Nail Beauty Gummies have beneficial effects on keratin production which is essential for strong, healthy and rejuvenated hair, skin and nails.
We love that Radiance asks people to join their sustainability mission by reusing their packaging and have suggested the tins be used for things like herbs and spices, growing plants, making candles or holding stationery and hair ties.
Radiance products are available in pharmacies and health stores throughout New Zealand.
