In focus: Revitalash® Eyelash Conditioner, Dermalogica Daily Milkfoliant and other things we loved

Here are some of the things we’ve enjoyed in the past two weeks!

Revitalash®Advanced Eyelash Conditioner, Revitalash Cosmetics

These days, there are loads of different ways to enhance your eyelashes – mascara, false eyelashes or eyelash extensions – and now, Revitalash Advanced Eyelash Conditioner offers us another option… one that gives you the real deal 24 hours a day.

Revitalash is an award-winning eyelash serum and is probably the most well-known product in the lash growth serum market and promises to make short, weakened lashes longer, fuller and stronger. It’s a product I had heard my nieces talking positively about as well as the many makeup artists that we work with.

Reassuringly, the formula is ophthalmologist tested and safe to use with contact lenses. It’s clinically tested, hypoallergenic and non-irritating, vegan friendly and cruelty-free. It also doesn’t contain parabens or phthalates.

Dee: “Although you can apply the eyelash serum in the morning and again in the evening, I decided to use it once a day. I applied the serum with the supplied applicator onto the roots of both my upper and lower lashes and let it dry for 5 minutes before applying the rest of my makeup.

“I’m four weeks into using this and have just started to see an increase in length and thickness but the literature suggests you get maximum results after 6 weeks. There’s also a slight sheen to my eyelashes too and I’m hoping in a few weeks’ time that I can stop wearing mascara.

“Although the Revitalash Eye Serum is on the pricey side and you will need to continue using it to maintain the results, you only need a wipe across your lashes so the 3.5ml tube should last at least six months.

“I’m really pleased with this product and will continue using it.”

Foaming Cleanser, Glow Lab

Glow Lab has just released their new Foaming Cleanser to the market. It’s a fluffy mousse-like foaming cleanser with Betaine and Witch-hazel Extract that cleans your skin without stripping it of vital moisture or leaving it with that dry or tight feeling you sometimes get from cleansers.

It’s easy to use: one pump of foam into the palm of your hand and then massage into damp skin, then rinse thoroughly. It does a great job of cleansing any makeup residue or foundation from your skin.

The Foaming Cleanser is suitable for all skin types and can be used twice a day, if necessary.

New Zealand made, the Glow Lab range is very affordable and available at supermarkets.

Daily Milkfoliant, Dermalogica

Dermalogica’s latest product is a beautiful calming vegan exfoliating powder which polishes skin while supporting the skin’s moisture barrier. This brand new formula has a calming oat-based formulation, which works as both a physical and chemical exfoliant. It’s designed to gently polish away dead skin cells, to leave it smoother, and more vibrant, whilst also replenishing and supporting the skin’s moisture barrier.

Jenny: “I have sensitive skin so I was a bit concerned about trying this for any length of time but I was pleasantly surprised as to how good my skin felt… and it wasn’t irritated. I used it every third day as I felt that was all my skin needed.

“It starts out as a dry, yellowish powder and has a light coconut scent. You only need about half a teaspoon of product and once you add a small amount of water to it and rub it between your hands it becomes a milky lather. I massaged it across my face concentrating on my T-zone and jawline because that’s where I felt I needed it most. I rinsed off with warm water and moved on to the rest of my daily (or nightly) skincare routine.

“I discovered that some of the ingredients include alpha and beta hydroxy acids – namely grape extract and arginine – which gently dissolve dead skin cells, promoting new cell growth. There’s also papain extract and coconut milk – both of which play a role in smoothing and softening the skin – and botanical extracts such as orange peel, bergamot, rosewood, pumpkin, cucumber and carrot extracts – all of which soothe and nourish the skin.

“You only need a small amount and I’m only using it every few days so the 74g bottle should last me ages. I do feel that this isn’t the product to use if you’re after a heavy-duty exfoliant but, for my skin, it is perfect.”

Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask, The Body Shop

“I was so excited to try this mud-textured exfoliating mask. My skin is on the oily side and charcoal is well-known for its natural purifying ability so this looked like it would be a good fit for my skin. The Purifying Glow Mask literature stated the mask exfoliates, absorbs excess oil and sucks out dirt and impurities – all the things I feel my skin needs.

“I learned very quickly that you need to be organised when using this mask as things can get a bit messy! Be warned: wear an old t-shirt, use old towels and an old facecloth!

“I applied a layer of the fresh smelling mask onto my face and neck, then lay back and relaxed for 15 minutes while it worked its magic. My skin felt quite tingly while it was on my face – the directions said this is normal – and then using a circular motion to exfoliate, used a face cloth to rinse it off.

“I’ve been using the mask twice a week and love how my skin feels whenever I use it. My skin looks clearer and feels soft and I haven’t had any massive breakouts which I’m really pleased about. I’ll definitely keep using this product.”
