In focus: Wet n Wild primer water, Inika lipstick crayons and other things we loved

In focus is a fortnightly online update on things that the focus team has loved. New places we have discovered, food we’ve enjoyed and events that have made us happy – here’s a glimpse into our lives from the past two weeks.

Inika lipstick crayons

Honestly, the person who first had the idea to use a pencil shape for a lipstick instead of a classic tube deserves a monument and a lifelong supply of cookies! The application process is much easier and precise, it’s more convenient to carry thin pencils around and overall it’s a great tool for a quick beauty fix. Most of the lipstick crayons traditionally have matte finish, so new Inika satin finish crayons are a breath of fresh air in our makeup collection – they combine the efficiency of crayons with a glossy, wet lipstick look.

The new collection of six colours is enriched with certified organic coconut oil, certified organic carnauba wax and vitamin E to nourish and soften the lips.

But the best part about this collection is its long-lasting formula. We tested ‘Deep Plum’ on a recent trip from Tauranga to Auckland return, had two coffee breaks and lots of chatting –  the Inika crayon survived without a single touch up! How impressive is that?

Wet n Wild primer water

People often underestimate the importance of prepping skin for makeup. In fact, it’s one of the most common makeup mistakes we’re all guilty of. You can’t expect your foundation to last all day and look smooth and natural without properly moisturising the skin and using a primer first. The new Wet n Wild Photo Focus 3-in-1 Primer Water makes it easier to get ready for the day in the morning, as it combines hydration, smoothing and brightening your skin in one product! The fact that Wet n Wild’s entire range is cruelty-free and mostly vegan means it’s totally safe to use these products on bare skin.

There are three primer waters in the new collection: Rose, Cucumber and Coconut. All performing the same job, they have, as you must have already figured out, different scents. Light and refreshing Cucumber is our favourite!

Wet n Wild primer water is super affordable ($12.99) and is available at Farmers stores.

Tezza App

You might’ve noticed the recent change in the mood and colours of our Instagram Stories (do you follow us on Instagram, by the way?). Well, we’re too kind to keep this awesome discovery a secret – Tezza App is the genius behind the sudden upgrade. Created by one of our most favourite influencers – @Tezza – this app allows you to edit both photos and videos in one click. But that’s not all! It also contains loads of beautiful templates for Stories and useful photography/social media tips and tricks from Tezza herself.

Only $3.99 per month for photo+video editing tools but worth so much more! You’re welcome.

Titans

A month before DC Universe’s Titans Season 2 premiere, we finally got our hands (and eyes) on the first season of this untraditional superhero show. Unlike the usually positive DC series about Flash, Green Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, Titans boasts moody noir vibes, psychological horror elements, as well as loads of blood and cruelty. Feels more like dark Batman movies than an entertaining and fun DC TV show! But nevertheless, we LOVED it!

The show depicts a group of young superheroes, most of whom have never left the comic pages before – Robin (Batman’s former partner), Rachel Roth aka Raven (daughter of a demon father and a human mother with dark magic, empathy, telepathy and other abilities), Kory Anders or Starfire (an extremely powerful extraterrestrial) and shapeshifter Garfield Logan or Beast Boy.
