Karen Murrell shares her thoughts on summer colours and says: “Colours that evoke emotions are key this summer, we’re all looking for a little escapism and joy this season ahead…”
What colours can we expect to see more of this summer in our makeup?
1. For theparty season you can’t go past a statement red lip! If you’re cool toned reach for Seduction or True Love and if you’re warm toned reach for Freedom or Rymba Rhythm. There is nothing as transformative and confidence boosting as rocking a bold red lip!
2. For daytime wear, we’re seeing the resurgence of baby pinks, think candy floss pink, the kind of soft pink that makes you immediately reminiscent of sweet deliciousness and fun. Pastels are back, and they offer softness, femininity and a sense of lightness and joy.
3. Brown is not going anywhere, it’s even made its way into our mascara choices, and the shade of Cocoa Powder will be the statement brown for the season, we’re going to be wearing it on our eyes, lips, clothing and nails!
4. Sky blue everything – who doesn’t smile when they look at a clear sky that screams happy, sunny and warm days ahead? All shades of azure will be popping up everywhere, in our eye makeup, our jewellery and fashion choices.
5. Lip stains aren’t going anywhere! They are easy to apply, and they last super well. My new Frost Bitten and Rose Quartz Lip Stains can be applied straight from the canister and worn glossy or tissue off after a couple of minutes for a more stained lip look. For a bolder ‘just bitten’ lip stain shade, try my best selling Night Moves.
What shades are you going to be wearing on high rotation this summer?
I have always loved a nude lip; you can wear it anywhere and my new Nicely Nude that launched in mid-September is still my favourite go to shade for the summer season ahead. However, I am also very excited about wearing a lighter pink shade on my lips this season and will be embracing Camelia Morning and Carnation Mist this summer.
