Peanut butter flavoured whiskey?
Sounds weird, right? However, Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey is an award-winning spirit and a whole lot of delicious and it’s now available in New Zealand.
How did this whiskey combination come about? It’s pretty simple, actually. Peanut butter was a totally new and fascinating flavour for co-founder Steve Yeng after immigrating as a refugee from Cambodia. He went on to develop a best-selling peanut butter whiskey cocktail at his bar and restaurant in California – a place as known for its foodie-friendly fare as it was for being a haven for local misfits, characters, and black sheep. He then teamed up with his wife, Brittany, who just happened to be a lawyer and chemist, to develop a standalone spirit that tasted great on its own and played well in a cocktail.
The result is Skrewball: an unconventional ode to different backgrounds, exotic flavours, and the seemingly disparate qualities that make us all unique and united. It was one of those drinks that people couldn’t stop talking about, embodying both smooth whiskey and creamy peanut butter flavours at the SAME TIME. Mind blown indeed!
Skrewball’s unexpected mix of sweet and savoury flavours is the perfect way to celebrate the weird and wonderful “skrewball” in all of us, ready to please even the most skeptical of your crew. A little salty, a little sweet, a little savoury, and always smooth, Skrewball is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted before.
Sip it neat, pour it on ice, or use one of these easy recipes below to create a cocktail that will be an interesting conversation starter at your next soirée.
