The Sweet Louise Cookbook raises funds for women with incurable breast cancer

This October, Sweet Louise is launching its 2020 edition of The Sweet Louise Cookbook. All proceeds will help the organisation to continue providing practical and emotional support for New Zealanders living with incurable breast cancer.

The cookbook features recipes from Nadia Lim, The Topp Twins, Dean Brettschneider, Hannah Barrett and other well-known Kiwis and members of the Sweet Louise community. Potato crusted quiche, avocado chocolate mousse and portokalopita are just a few of the many sweet and savoury dishes you’ll find inside.

‘I wanted to share my family carrot cake recipe. I love it because it is delicious and super simple,’ says actor and comedian Kura Forrester. ‘I wanted to share this recipe in particular as it was a favourite of my dearest late sister-in-law, Prue. Prue spoke so very highly of Sweet Louise and the incredible support they gave her after she was diagnosed with stage 4 incurable breast cancer.’

‘We are thrilled to release this new 2020 edition of the cookbook in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and are grateful to all those who have contributed, many of whom have been personally affected by breast cancer. I hope New Zealanders will enjoy giving some of these recipes a go, knowing they are making a huge difference to the quality of life for women with incurable breast cancer,’ added Sweet Louise CEO Catrin Devonald.

Sweet Louise currently supports over 745 women with incurable breast cancer and their families right across New Zealand. They deliver meals, help with chores and hospital visits, as well as providing one-on-one emotional support. There are also peer-to-peer support groups, emergency help for essentials like food and petrol and they help families create precious memories together.
