The Third Culture Film Festival (TCFF) takes place in Tauranga from 7th-9th March and promises to showcase an impressive array of short films, feature films, and documentaries from around the globe, focusing on the theme of ‘Bridging Cultures.’
TCFF originally founded in Hong Kong, now enters its 2nd year in its new home city of Tauranga. It will feature over 126 short films from over 50 countries, 36 from NZ, highlighting the unique perspectives and storytelling prowess of filmmakers from diverse backgrounds. The festival will take place across various venues in Tauranga, with Luxe Cinemas in the CBD being the main screening location.
Festival Highlights:
● Opening Night: The festival will kick off with the premiere of a documentary on Tauranga Boys College’s “Fortress 40”. TCFF will also be showcasing their first “featured feature” out of competition: “The Stranded Pearl,” a poignant drama about resilience and cultural identity, followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers.
● Family and Community Blocks: Sponsored FREE special screening blocks dedicated to families and community stories, including films suitable for all ages will be hosted at Masonic Park.
● Panels and Workshops: Engaging panel discussions with filmmakers, and workshops aimed at aspiring filmmakers, focusing on storytelling techniques and industry insights.
● Youth Competition: A spotlight on young talent with a dedicated competition for secondary school students in the Bay of Plenty region, offering a grand prize of $1,000.
