Te Manawataki o Mauao

From October 21-31, enjoy this unique sound walk at The Mount! A meditative and immersive event that you can experience at your own pace and whenever you have time. All you need is your phone with the downloaded Te Manawataki o Mauao app and your headphones – the app responds to your geolocation. Take any track up the maunga and let original music and soundscape evoke land, skies and sea.

Brave New World

Brave New World is a series of 15 flags, created by local artist Nicol Sanders-O’Shea with Supercut Projects and located on Durham street in Tauranga Downtown.

In her art installations, Nicol mixes nostalgic children’s book illustrations with Covid safety warnings. The flags highlight our ‘new normal’, where wearing a mask is mandatory and coming home is tricky.

Kete Whakairo at The Elms

From 21 October, the heritage garden pavilion at The Elms on Mission Street is temporarily housing Kete Whakairo for 10 days.

This exhibition features exquisitely woven pieces created by Jo Torr and Tarryn Motutere (Ngāpuhi). The two women honour weavers from history to the present day, using patterns recorded in the 1984 book ‘Raranga Whakairo’.

Jo and Tarryn will be weaving up at the Elms during the exhibition.

RESTLESS & INFECTIOUS | “ALL THE FEELS”

A gorgeous new exhibition of colourful portraits by artist and illustrator Agate Rubene is opening at The Art Lounge NZ today and will run for a month.

Restless & Infectious is all about expression, bold colours and good vibes. Artworks inspired by daily personal experiences, mood and aesthetic of pop culture.
