Tauranga’s largest biennial event Tarnished Frocks and Divas has been cancelled this year due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Since 2005, the Tarnished Frocks and Divas variety shows regularly brought together creative and talented female performers over 40, like Caitriona Fallon, Jackie Clarke, Annie Crummer, Bryony Skillington and many others, as well as behind-the-scenes volunteers with one main aim – to gift a few days of joy, music, fashion and inspiration to their audience. In 2021 though, the show won’t be happening.
‘Whilst this has been a hard decision to make, it is the right one in the present environment. The time commitment by our huge cast and crew of volunteers, along with the financial commitment to our suppliers, is just too much to contemplate at the moment,’ says Anne Pankhurst, Chair of Tarnished Frocks and Divas.
The Trustees of the show have met regularly before and after the 2020 lockdown and during the current Alert Level 2 to assess the risks and discuss their options and while the last thing they wanted was to disappoint their audience and participants, the safety and health of everyone involved is obviously a priority.
