With a few extra hours on our hands now that it’s summer holidays, there’s nothing like watching a good old Christmas movie whilst bingeing on unlimited snacks and, hopefully, enjoying a few family cuddles! Here are the best new Christmas movies of 2021 you can watch on Netflix.
A Boy Called Christmas
A family-friendly movie that audiences of all ages will absolutely love! Young Nikolas (Henry Lawfull), a boy living in long-ago Finland, goes on a quest to search for hope in a dark time. During his adventures, he meets a reindeer (of course!), faces an evil elf and loads more. Maggie Smith plays an eccentric aunt, who is the narrator of this story, sharing it with her nieces and nephew.
A Castle for Christmas
Just the fact that this movie has Brooke Shields playing the main heroine is enough to watch it! But it also has a glorious castle that bestselling author Sophie Brown (Brooke Shields) attempts to buy, a grumpy current owner who doesn’t want to sell said castle, the cosiest pub next door and lots of traditional Scottish elements (think, PLAID!).
Love Hard
Is it even a Christmas movie if the main heroine doesn’t fly across the country to meet her online crush? Natalie (Nina Dobrev), a Los Angeles-based freelance writer, does exactly that… only to find out everything is not what it seems and she’s now supposed to be a pretend girlfriend for Christmas.
Single All the Way
Peter asks his best friend, Nick, to pose as his boyfriend on a Christmas family visit, but their plan — and feelings — change when his family – or his ruthless mom Carole, to be more specific – start playing matchmakers. This story has everything we want from a perfect Christmas movie – snowy location, Christmas lights everywhere, endless supply of frosted cookies, cute dogs and a heartwarming romance.
Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star
We have to admit, we have a weak spot for this absolutely ridiculous, yet somehow irresistible, franchise with Vanessa Hudgens. In the third episode we meet Fiona – an evil cousin of Margaret, Queen of Montenaro. Of course, Stacy, a former cupcake baker turned Princess of Belgravia, also joins in on the fun. And to top it all, all three are played by Vanessa Hudgens.
Father Christmas Is Back
Downtown Abbey meets Gossip Girl in this story of four sisters named Christmas (seriously, that’s their actual last name – Christmas), whose long-absent father suddenly returns. Elizabeth Hurley is absolutely stunning as Joanna Christmas here!
