It’s not too late to enjoy time at the Auckland Writers Festival which ends on Sunday. The festival features some of the world’s biggest names both internationally and locally in books, arts and culture.
The Auckland Writers Festival is renowned for bringing together the very best local and international writers and thinkers in a week-long celebration of books and ideas. Now in its 23rd year, the festival is being held in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).
Audiences can see Jane Campion discussing her film based on the novel The Power of the Dog, mega-bestseller (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers) Liane Moriarty, X-files and Californication actor David Duchovny (via livestream in venue) on his writing life and bestselling novels, The Naked Samoan’s reuniting on-stage with John Campbell,and much more.
There are also a series of free events including STREETSIDE on K-Road on Friday night of the festival (26 Aug) – where authors will be taking over local bars to discuss their books, read poetry and craft workshops. And Pukapuka Adventures – a free morning of children’s events in the Auckland Town Hall on Sunday 28 August.
