Do you ever feel like you’re missing out on the picture-perfect white Christmases you see each year on TV? Well, if you’re feeling the FOMO, here’s some advice and tips to keep you ‘cool’ this summer.
A white Christmas doesn’t necessarily have to be cold. To create a white Christmas in summer, all you need is a cozy aesthetic vibe. Bring out the candles and fairy lights, hang up the mistletoe and get rid of all the beige. Bring in all the colours that make your space feel snuggly, warm and bubbly. Being cozy is the first and most important step.
If you want to recreate the snow aspect in summer, the best thing to use is white flower petals. If you’re creating an outside wonderland, use real flowers. But if you want to create an inside wonderland, get fake flower petals and sprinkle them around and under your Christmas tree. Flowers are better for the environment than fake snow, plus they add that much needed cozy vibe. If you are wanting to go that extra mile, paper snowflakes are easy to make too and it’s a great activity for the whole family.
Another traditional Christmas indoor activity is making gingerbread houses. Either make them from scratch or buy a kit to create one.

But if you’re looking for a specifically winter activity, then making snow angles is what you need! Those beautiful white flower petals you have will be great fun to play with, if your indoor or outdoor space allows it. Just because you don’t have real snow, doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the fun!
As for the eggnog, there is no rule to say you can’t sip on it in the summer, while the wind blowing in your hair and the trees are shading you from the blearing hot sun. If you are after a cold approach, grab a toddler pool to dip your feet in, all while sitting in the petal snow and enjoying your eggnog 😉
When the sun does go down and the air starts to get colder, put on your favourite Christmas movie. If the air is still warm, put a fan on in the background, or set your aircon on blasting cold. Then make some ‘hot cocoa’, sit down and enjoy. Grab all the cushions, blankets and duvets you can find to make it the ultimate winter Christmas night.
Remember, Christmas is all about friends and family, whether that’s a FaceTime call or them sitting next to you on the couch with a glass of Chardonnay in their hand. Loved ones make any Christmas special, the location or timezone doesn’t matter as long as your people are there.
