In focus: Neostrata®, V&V Mylks and Karen Murrell

Every two weeks we share all the stuff we’ve recently enjoyed – from the latest TV shows to must-try foods, gorgeous makeup products and the most exciting spots to visit in New Zealand.

NEOSTRATA®

Neostrata, a fragrance-free, anti-ageing skin care range, has just launched in New Zealand with 15 products across three lines – Skin Active, Resurface and Restore and we’ve been lucky enough to trial some of them ☺.

The brand name, Neostrata®, translates to ‘new’ and ‘layers’ – in other words, visible results are achieved through renewing layers of the epidermis to reveal healthy looking , smoother, clearer and more radiant skin. Their products are now sold worldwide for addressing the signs of ageing.

Dee: “A select range of Neostrata® products from the Restore and Repair range landed on my desk the day before lockdown so I have spent the past few weeks trying these out and have to say, I am really pleased with the results.”

Dee used products from the Restore range which targets redness, dry, blotchy, sensitive and irritated skin and features gentle yet effective PHAs (Polyhydroxy Acids) and Bionic Acids (a type of PHA) to help replenish the skin’s moisture barrier and protect it against environmental factors.

“Each morning, I used a small amount of the soap-free, non-foaming Restore Facial Cleanser to prime my skin for their other products. I then applied a small amount of the Restore Bionic Face Serum and then the Matrix Support Day Cream but found I needed an extra boost of hydration so topped everything up with the Restore Ultra Moisturizing Face Cream. As new skin is exposed, I applied sunscreen during the day.

“The truth is, I am never going to be able to turn back the clock but overall I was very happy with the results. The combination of products I used suited my mature skin and I look forward to seeing further results over the next few weeks.”

Neostrata® is available from Life Pharmacy and Chemist Warehouse.

V&V MYLK

We’ve always loved the whole concept behind V&V Mylks – a plant-based mylk that nourishes the body, supports the environment, is versatile to use and accessible to everyone. Each bottle contains one ingredient – the seed or nut that’s on the label.

The stone-ground nut and seed mylk concentrates come in 250ml glass bottles – so no tetra-pak cartons that often end up in landfill – and all you need to do is add 250ml water to 1 tablespoon of product and whisk it up. Each bottle makes up to 4 litres of delicious mylk which can be used on its own or added to smoothies and used in recipes.

The mylks are delicious – we’ve tried a few of them and, so far, our favourites are almond, hemp, sunflower and coconut. They have a fairly long shelf life – a year in most cases – and once mixed, the mylk can be kept in the fridge for up to a week.

Karen Murrell Lip Scrub

Karen Murrell is best known for creating fragrance-free, beautiful lip colours that have no nasties and team focus has been using them for ages.

We recently tried her easy-to-use lip scrub which is made from sugar particles and beautiful natural waxes. The scrub comes in a lipstick barrel so all you have to do is apply it as if it was a normal lippie. It glides on – no rough feeling at all – and you can leave it on or wipe it off with a face cloth. The natural ingredients remove dead skin and provide hydration and nourishment with every application.

Thumbs up from us!
