One brand – two reviews: Lissom multi-tasking skincare essentials

Lissom was founded by two skincare and wellness experts, Michelle and Lydia, who wanted to create something suitable for busy lives and all skin types … skincare that would feel luxurious yet be really affordable. That’s how a set of highly efficient products based on natural, good-for-skin ingredients was created. At the moment, there are three products in the skincare range – Avocado Smash Brightening Eye Cream, Rose Moisture Boost Sleeping Mask and Youth Activate Renewal Serum. Read on to find out what we thought about them.

Dee Collins:  The first thing I noticed about the Lissom range of skincare is the beautiful packaging and high-quality bottles, droppers, spatulas and containers. The second is the gorgeous scent of damask roses that awakens your senses when you open the Rose Moisture Boost Sleeping Mask and the Youth Activate Renewal Serum. It’s not overpowering – just heavenly.

Hydration is always top of my beauty requirements and the Sleeping Mask delivered this in spades, plus it evened out my skin texture so that I awoke to soft, refreshed skin. The non-oily, leave-on gel is applied to a clean face and left overnight so that the potent botanicals, hydrating hyaluronic acid and AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) have time to work their magic. I would advise applying it at least half an hour before bedtime to give it time to absorb into the skin and reduce its stickiness. Don’t worry, you won’t wake up to a stained pillow!

If you need a quick boost of hydration, a thick layer to a clean face and leave for 15 minutes. Voilà, an instant moisture boost! With summer coming, a great tip is to store the gel in the fridge – cooling and refreshing.

Honestly, try this mask and you’ll see why just over 1,000 masks were sold worldwide in the first six weeks after their launch.

The Youth Activate Renewal Serum is also a winner. This nutrient-rich, multi-tasking serum contains hero ingredients such as provitamin B5, turmeric root, blackcurrant, willow bark, green tea and rosehip – all designed to nourish the skin and address fine lines and dullness. This non-comedogenic serum is suitable for all skin types and can be used day and night with your usual beauty favourites.

The Avocado Smash Brightening Eye Cream is the latest product to be released in the Lissom skincare arsenal and it’s also fabulous. The cream soaked into my skin fairly quickly and the hydrating effect certainly seemed to iron out a few of those pesky lines. It’s suitable for use day and night and for all skin types.

I can’t wait to see what other products Lissom brings out. A lot of thought and research has gone into this range and I don’t think it will be too long before the Lissom brand is everywhere.

Kseniia Spodyneiko: I’m sold immediately by a beautiful story around the brand and its products – something many skincare brands lack these days. Lissom was born in the middle of a lavender farm in Auckland and damask roses for their sleeping mask are harvested in the early morning before the sun fully rises over the trees in the hinterland of the North Island…

What you’ve just read is not simply a description of the production process, it’s a fairy tale that starts at the factory and continues in your bathroom. Everything about these products is as romantic as their harvesting process. The bottles have this subtle shimmer that creates a when you hold them in your hands and the creams and serums have an , soft texture you can’t wait to feel on your skin. And the smell… if I need to add anything else to what Dee’s already said, I’ll just mention that I’m not only using the serum on my face but also neck and decolletage (a I’ve always neglected before) just to enjoy the aroma for longer. And of course, I use it twice per day.

Speaking of serums, this is my product in the entire range and hands down one of the best serums I’ve ever tried (something you won’t often hear from a former beauty editor). It’s rich, nourishing and soaks into the skin really quickly – basically two seconds and it’s gone, leaving a velvety, , happy skin.

My skin is very sensitive to the and I always end up being sunburned, even with SPF50, long sleeves, a hat and staying in the shade as much as possible. After the first beach day of the season, I used an extra layer of serum under my normal and, surprise, surprise – no sunburn this time! All thanks to provitamin B5, a natural skin healer and regenerator. The tomato seed oil that regenerates UV-stressed skin and improves hydration also helps.

If you’re keen to try Youth Activate Renewal Serum, but not willing to invest $78 for a bottle immediately, you can start with a travel 5ml version, which is only $8. There is also a 30ml bottle for $48. With free shipping New Zealand-wide, Lissom makes it very convenient for customers to try something new and re-order favourites! https://lissombeauty.com/
