One product – two reviews: Lisa Goodeve Intensive Repair serum

Recently we had a chat with Lisa Goodeve, a Bay of Plenty beauty therapist who, as a result of seeing many people looking for non-toxic skin products that delivered results, decided to create a 100% natural skincare range using highly active ingredients that were potent enough to give professional results that you would usually only get in a salon.

It was this lack of natural, hardworking skincare in the general market place that prompted Lisa to put her more than 20 years of clinical experience to good use. Her bespoke botanical range contains a unique combination of active natural ingredients and powerful botanicals – there are no fillers or artificial components. Ingredients are sourced locally and her team is able to track where the contents of each jar comes from.

There are four Lisa Goodeve collections – Age Repair, Essentials, Balancing and Sun Protection – formulated to deliver great results, no matter your skin type. You can hop onto the Lisa Goodeve website and find out what products will suit your type of skin but we would suggest you have a direct consultation with Lisa before purchasing anything.

Lisa Goodeve Intensive Repair Serum with Vitamin C

With its antioxidant properties, applying Vitamin C through a skincare regimen is a great way to neutralise free radicals, regenerate cell repair, renew collagen, slough off dead cells to give you a brighter looking skin, even skin tone and reduce hyperpigmentation. Vitamin C also gives added sun protection by thickening the dermis but, it’s important to note, it should not be used instead of sunscreen.

Serums target specific skincare concerns and typically include a higher concentration of ingredients. It’s best to apply them to clean skin, before your moisturiser, so that it can penetrate the skin and work its magic.

Lisa Goodeve skincare reviews

Dee Collins: Vitamin C has been climbing steadily up the popularity ladder for some time now as it does give great results. As my skin can be quite sensitive and reddens quickly, I started using the serum every second day to allow my skin to adapt to the high levels of Vitamin C – 20%. I now apply this twice daily and add Lisa Goodeve’s Rejuvenating Crème (which also has Vitamin C) as my moisturiser. Oils such as avocado, rosehip, jojoba, evening primrose and Vitamin E, and plant-derived hyaluronic acid have all helped my skin feel super-hydrated – something that is so essential to keep ageing skin looking plump and healthy!

The serum is really easy to apply – a few quick shakes of the bottle before applying lightly over your entire face, neck and décolletage. It absorbs quickly into the skin – no greasy residue, which is great.

I also love the fact that Lisa Goodeve delivers her products in recyclable containers and packaging and supports local, ethical and sustainable businesses.

Kseniia Spodyneiko: Lisa got me sold on her skincare as soon as she said her night cream would be ‘too heavy for my young skin’ and I should use this serum instead. When you’ve just turned 30, you need to hear your skin is still young approximately every five minutes of every day or you might die from depression. Ok, I might be exaggerating a bit but you’ve got the point!

I’m a huge fan of night-time skincare and swapping products I already know and love for something entirely new for me was quite a challenge. But the fact that Lisa Goodeve products are 100% natural was certainly comforting and encouraging. Did you know that we can be exposed to an average of 168 different harmful chemicals daily simply because we’re not using natural skincare? That’s why it’s so important to know exactly what goes into your cleanser, moisturiser, night cream, etc. Lisa Goodeve’s ingredients are simple, familiar and absolutely harmless: pomegranate, avocado, rosehip, essential oils of tangerine and pure rose, etc.

Intensive Repair Serum didn’t disappoint after all! It smells lovely and relaxing – perfect for before bed routine! I also love the fact the light scent is still there in the morning. Waking up just got that wee bit more pleasant. It leaves my skin velvety, smooth and well-moisturised. Although I have combination skin that is more on the oily side, I sometimes find my skin feeling a bit dry in the morning and the only thing I can think of is a huge glass of water and a thick layer of moisturiser. No such cravings with this serum! The skin soaks in the serum during the night and feels refreshed and balanced in the morning.

I don’t use it every night though but rather mix it up with other night-time skincare products too. First of all, I can’t just throw them all away, right? And secondly, if I overuse this serum, my skin becomes a bit more oily than I’m used to – I prefer to think, it’s just too young for ‘intensive repair’ yet, haha. But if your skin is dry to normal – Lisa Goodeve serum would definitely be a spot-on treatment!
