Long weekends are always fun. If you haven’t made any plans yet, here are some of the most exciting events happening in Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty this Queen’s Birthday.
Markets
There is an abundance of markets in Tauranga, every weekend, and you probably know all of them just as well as we do. But in case you needed that quick memory refresh:
- Tauranga Farmers Market on 5th Ave kicks off at 7.45am and runs til’ 12.00pm on Saturday. This is your go-to place for local, certified organic fresh products. From fruits and veggies to freshly baked breads, raw cakes and hot food – this is every conscious foodie’s paradise!
- The Little Big Markets in Coronation Park open their symbolic doors a bit later – at 9.00am. Pop by any time before 2.00pm for a huge range of street food and food truck vendors, live music and a curated selection of stallholders, selling everything from beauty products to kids clothes to home decor.
- On Sunday from 9.00am-1.00pm, you can visit the Mount Farmers Market. Breads, cheese, fruits and vegetables, fresh cut flowers and plants for your home, plus a few natural health stalls, and even organic compost and products for your garden are available here.
Sexy with confiDANCE party
Hosted by Honest Platter (have you seen her incredible Birthday cake recipe in focus, by the way?) and Remix RT Fitness, this night is all about feeling sexy and confident as a woman. Enjoy an evening of great antipasto delights and a few naughty treats, wine and dancing with a bunch of like-minded ladies! You’ll learn some exciting new dance moves and will have loads of fun. Previous dance experience isn’t important at all – everyone is welcome to this workshop!
The event is on 1st July, 6.00-10.30pm at the Remix RT Fitness Studios, Bethlehem Town Centre.
2019 Okere Falls Store Strong Beer Fest
Okere Falls Store & Cafe is hands down one of the coolest places to spend an evening in our region. With the cosiest backyard, creative menu and kombucha degustations, it’s wonderful both in summer and in winter. But the best time to visit Okere Falls Store is probably during the annual Beer Fest from 29th May – 1st June. Four days of celebrating hearty, dark, malty beers with special beer and burger pairings for dinner, live music and bonfires.
The Saturday night event starts at 4.00pm and will include live performances from local star Liam Jolly, Nimbus from Mt Maunganui and the headliners of the night, the fantastic White Chapel Jak! Entry ticket is $38.
Waihi Beach Art & Craft Fair
This event has already been bringing the community together for the last 15 years! Worth paying a visit to celebrate an anniversary, right? Browse through locally made jewellery, clothes, toys, candles and upcycled garden art on Sunday, 2nd June from 10.00am-3.30pm at the Waihi Beach Community Centre. There will also be a cafe run by volunteers where you can relax with yummy food and refreshments.
