When it comes to competing athletes, their only goal is winning. They’re focused and avoid any distractions. But that doesn’t mean that we, the fans and spectators, don’t get easily distracted by upbeat music, the mediocre fast food usually served at the stadiums or the gorgeous outfits of our idols. These ladies surely do know how to win in style!
Florence Griffith-Joyner
The fastest woman in history, whose 1988 records in 100m and 200m still stand, Flo-Jo was the pioneer of mixing fashion and sports. She’s known for neon ‘one-legger’ unitards and nail polish that could be seen from space. Florence rarely competed without full makeup and a cascade of gorgeous curly hair. Even Beyonce couldn’t resist replicating one of her legendary outfits for Halloween celebrations a few years ago!
Dress good to look good.

Look good to feel good.
And feel good to run fast!
Charlotte Casiraghi
The daughter of a Monaco princess and Italian industrialist might not have been competing internationally since 2015 but it doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten her outstanding grace and style. She remains Gucci’s equestrian sports ambassador and still sports custom-made head-to-toe Gucci outfits at events in Monaco which she participates in every now and again.

Serena Williams
30 years in the spotlight and Serena is yet to be seen wearing the same outfit at any two of her major games. Always the trailblazer, she tests the line of rules and regulations. Leave it to Serena to add golden stripes to a Wimbledon outfit that is supposed to be entirely white or to wear a catsuit that made the conservative French Tennis Federation ‘adopt new measures to regulate players’ outfits’.
When it comes to fashion, you don’t want to be a repeat offender.

Danica Patrick
The first woman to prove we can drive as fast as men, this racer is fearless not only behind the wheel but also in her fashion choices. For her final NASCAR race, she wore a neon-green racing jumpsuit with aviators and American flag-coloured shoes and managed to turn this seemingly ridiculous combination into a proper fashion statement. Off the track, she has her own Athleisure clothing line and is a spokesperson for several fashion brands.

Lindsey Vonn
American alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn certainly knows how to look good in winter. Think long blonde hair under a knitted beanie, colourful uniform, kind smile and rosy cheeks – that’s Vonn’s signature style. She even has her own skiing collection with Under Armour. Lyndsey’s main problem with standard skiing outfits is the fact that they are made to keep you warm, not to make you look stylish, so she’s tried to fix this with her own line.
Classy but different, and it has to fit my curvy body type,

which can be a challenge.
Hope Solo
While many sports allow athletes to express their individuality and style via their outfits, there isn’t much freedom in soccer. Yet, goalkeeper Hope Solo manages to always stand out with little add-ons to the standard uniform, like a pink headband, neon gloves or an eyeliner that makes her expressive eyes pop.
