A cost-free makeover of everyone’s favourite room in the house has never been so easy. Here are a few rearranging, reworking and redecorating ideas to make your bedroom look even better.
Get rid of excess fabric. Do your bedroom windows have both curtains and drapes? Lose one of them to make your room look more spacious and classy. Too much fabric can overwhelm the space. If your window is not as big as you would like it to be, make sure the rod goes wider than the window – having curtains outside the window frame will not only allow more light in but will also make it look bigger.
Avoid unnecessary furniture. When was the last time you actually spent an evening in your bedroom chair? Most probably you only use it as extra space for laundry when you don’t feel like folding, right? If there is a table or a drawer you never use, consider relocating it to another room and keep your bedroom minimalistic and serene.

Revitalise your bedding. Something as simple as flipping over a double-sided duvet will add a fresh feel to a familiar space. Try rearranging the cushions or add a throw blanket that has been hiding in the closet for ages.
Keep pillow numbers to a minimum. Mountains of pillows and cushions taking up half the bed space is so not the trend any more. To keep your bed looking decorated with great taste stick to three pillows tops. An uneven number creates a satisfying balance.
Add fresh flowers. No matter the season, there is always something green or colourful to be found in the garden. Make your bedroom look brighter and more lively by arranging a small bouquet on your bedside table.

Restyle the surfaces. Let’s be honest, the same items might have been occupying the surfaces of your bedside table, dresser or bookshelf for too long. Relocate your favourite candle to the windowsill, find a new way to organise your books (we love colour schemes, for example), move your night cream from the bathroom to the bedroom and update photos in your photo frames.

Rearrange the furniture. Not quite as quick and simple as finding a new spot for your night lamp but with a bit of creativity and patience you’ll definitely find a way to give all the bigger furniture a new place in your room. This will make a huge difference!
‘Float’ your furniture. If rearranging furniture is something you’re ready for, here’s another amazing trick from interior designers -instead of putting furniture against the walls, pull it closer to the centre. It will make the room look bigger and airier. Another option is to get yourself an adjustable bed that can provide extra space, some design varies so if you’re looking for floating bed adjustable beds might be an option.
