No smudging, chips and drying time – Ardell’s new press-on nails offer an amazing salon manicure in seconds. We tried some of their designs and here is what we thought.
Dee Collins: “I always wear my nails short and without nail varnish so it was an interesting exercise to see how I would cope with these non-permanent nails. I tried the gorgeous mid-length, almond-shaped nails in magenta hues.
I found these easy to apply but, on the downside, I’ve obviously got a bigger thumb nail than most women so these two didn’t fit properly. Definitely give yourself a bit of a manicure first so that you don’t spoil the overall effect with dried cuticles and hang nails.
I can see why women would love artificial nails. The Ardell nails really are beautiful and I love the fact that they aren’t all the same colour. However, personally, I would really need time to get used to longish nails – especially when it comes to typing. I confess that I wasn’t as productive as usual because I spent a lot of time admiring my sparkly fingers whilst typing, making coffee, reading books and flicking through our social media account.
It’s great that there are a few extra nails in the pack as I lost two of the nails on the first day. Overall, I managed to keep most of them on for two days – enough time to attend an event. I did have to soak my fingers in acetone to remove the remaining ones which came off really easily.
I think the nails are perfect for a special occasion especially if you’re not considering permanent salon nails. Except for the sizing of the thumbs, I would definitely use this product again.”
Kseniia Spodyneiko: “First of all, can I start by saying how cute the Ardell Nail Addict packages are? Because I’m a grown-up like that and I just can’t resist the tiny little glue and the tiny nail file that is pink on one side… And now, of course, I feel sorry for the cuticle stick and simply have to mention that it’s really cute too. Though it’s not tiny. It’s an average cuticle stick. Yet, it shouldn’t be left out – of course, you’re cute too, baby.
On a serious note, the Matte Blue nails were my first choice. I really like the squoval shape. OK, I like the word, which is a combination of ‘square’ and ‘oval’, and I’m really sad I wasn’t the one to come up with it. But I also like the shape itself. There are almond-shaped and coffin-shaped (ugh, seriously?) nails as well but squoval must be my fav. Also, Matte Blue are the shortest and though you can cut the artificial nails if you want to, the less time your manicure requires the better, not so?
The process took me about as long as applying polish would have sans the annoying drying time, which was awesome. Though I almost immediately lost the left thumb while trying to pull my hair in a bun. Go me! In Ardell’s defense, it was the first artificial nail I glued on myself in a very long time, so I just needed a wee bit more practice to do a better job. The rest of the nails passed typing, cooking and even a-way-too-lazy-but-I-would-never-admit-that workout with flying colours.
Each package contains 24 nails in four different designs so you can mix and match them.
