Tauranga’s popular eatery The Clarence has created a French themed pre-theatre menu for Tauranga Musical Theatre’s (TMT) season of Les Misérables.
The menu, designed by The Clarence chef Ryan Allen, will be available for bookings and walk-ins throughout the Les Misérables season, which runs 11 to 28 September at Baycourt Community and Arts Centre. Guests are invited to head to The Clarence for a two or three-course pre-show dinner before wandering around the corner to the theatre. Show tickets for that day (either the matinee or evening performance) must be shown on arrival at the restaurant.
The menu comprises stunning French classics, including truffle croquettes, Moules Marinières (French Mussels in White Wine Sauce), Duck à l’Orange and Crème Brûlée.
Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of adversity, broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption – a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. This epic and uplifting story has become one of the most celebrated musicals in theatrical history.
Les Misérables has been seen in 44 countries and translated into 22 languages around the globe. Featuring one of the greatest scores of all time, including beloved songs I Dreamed A Dream, On My Own, Stars, Bring Him Home, One Day More and Do You Hear the People Sing, TMT’s production of Les Misérables will be performed by some of the very best musical theatre and opera performers from the region, and accompanied live by a 14-piece orchestra.
The Clarence, in Tauranga’s Willow Street, is in essence European, but infused with local knowledge and heritage.
Tauranga Musical Theatre’s season of Les Misérables runs from 11 to 28 September at Baycourt Community and Arts Centre. Tickets are on sale now.
