It feels like walking into a fashion shoot – unsurprising given the interiors were designed in collaboration with New Zealand fashion house WORLD.
The Room: Luxe Details + A Bath That Deserves Its Own Instagram
Our Collection Room was generous and stylish, with views over the city and harbour. It had everything you’d want for a cosy night away – a plush king-size bed, coffee machine, flat-screen TV and a bathroom that practically begged for a long soak.
Every room in the hotel features a free-standing bath, and yes, I absolutely made time to use it – because when a hotel gives you a deep tub and gorgeous bath products, that’s a sign from the universe that you should slow down and soak.

When you check in for the Key to the City package, you’re handed a special keycard that unlocks exclusive offers across Auckland’s best restaurants, bars, wellness spaces and boutiques. Think secret menus, complimentary cocktails, spa discounts and VIP access – basically, your license to indulge.

Our Adventure: Food, Drinks & Spa Bliss
We started our evening by using one of the key’s foodie perks – dinner at Ghost Street in Britomart, complete with a complimentary dessert. This place blew us away. Bold flavours, beautifully plated Sichuan dishes, and an atmosphere that hums with energy. The service and food were absolutely next-level – the kind of meal you talk about for days afterwards. (I would go back purely for their crispy fried eggplant with sticky soy-ginger-chilli glaze. My mouth is watering as I write this!)
Back at the hotel, we took the lift up to HI-SO, the rooftop bar that always has a bit of a buzz. The views stretch right across the Waitematā Harbour, and we found ourselves pointing out landmarks and highlights across the city. The key scored us buy-one-get-one Pistachio Chocolate Martinis, which made for the perfect nightcap.
The next morning, we floated down to breakfast at Harbour Society, which has floor-to-ceiling views of the harbour. The buffet is extensive and caters to all preferences, and the make-your-own juice station made me feel like a wellness influencer – if only for a few minutes!
The Extras: Because It’s All About the Details
If you’ve got more time, the key also gets you access to some of Auckland’s most loved spots – from private wine tastings at Tantalus Estate to designing your own signature perfume at Miller Road. You could plan an entire weekend around the key and still not get through all the perks.
