From Waihi Beach with love: Ahu Aromas review

By:

Ahu means ‘to tend, foster, nurture, treat’ which goes with the Ahu philosophy of ‘nurturing your soul’. focus editors Dee Collins and Kseniia Spodyneiko were delighted to be given this natural skincare range to try.

YOU can enjoy it too, by the way! Ahu Aromas has given us the most amazing gift hamper, filled with their gorgeous products, to give away. Don’t miss your chance, entries close on July, 5th. Here’s the link to the competition

Dee Collins:

Ahu Aromas has been developed by two amazing women who live in the idyllic seaside town of Waihi Beach in the Bay of Plenty. Ahu means “to tend, foster, nurture, treat” and these gorgeous products, apart from transporting your thoughts to an idyllic island holiday, do exactly that.

All Ahu’s products contain plant-derived, cruelty-free natural ingredients and incorporate aromatherapy to repair our bodies from the outside in. There are also no preservatives or nasty chemicals in their products. Full points from me!

I was given a Coconut & Mango Travel Pack to try – there are four other tropical aromas in this range including Coconut, Coconut & Lime, Pineapple & Mango, and Mango – all presented in a beautiful, and useful, hemp bag.

The pack included pottels of Whipped Body Butter, Sugar Scrub and Replenishing Moisturiser and two pump bottles with a Body Oil and a Body Wash.

Everything smelt delicious and fruity – here I come Fiji! The products made me feel pampered, my skin glowed and felt super-hydrated. With a more mature skin, I did however, have to add an extra boost by adding another moisturiser to my face. Coconut oil, the main ingredient in the butter and body oil, hardens on colder days, so you’ll need to warm these two products in your hands before applying. With all the products, except perhaps the body scrub, a little goes a long way.

Jump onto the Ahu Aromas website to see the full range of products available – homewares, soy candles and melts and, of course, their body products. At $42, the Travel Pack is well worth it – perfect for a holiday or as a gift.

I love the fact that Ahu Aromas has embraced sustainability with their recyclable packaging that’s made from renewable sources including bamboo and hemp.

Kseniia Spodyneiko:

As a former beauty-editor I was always obsessed with the ingredients and technologies behind beauty products. Not surprisingly, the first thing I did after unpacking my Tropical Travel Pack was to read the list of ingredients that was kindly included in the pack. I was really excited to see that the products all come from nature! For example, the Whipped Body Butter consists of coconut oil, mango butter, shea butter, kukui nut oil, macadamia nut oil, tamanu oil, natural fragrance oils, essential oils and vitamin E. I mean, can there be anything healthier and more effective than these nurturing and nourishing ingredients, presented by Mother Earth? The idea of being sustainable, plant-derived and the fact that the brand is cruelty free had me sold immediately.

There couldn’t have been a better time to get my hands on this travel pack: right before a month-long journey that included the longest commercial flight on the planet – from Auckland to Doha. Mentally prepared to land on the other side of Earth with dull, exhausted, dehydrated skin, I was actually staring at a rested, smiley girl with glowing skin in the mirror at the airport bathroom. Impressive results from applying the replenishing moisturiser every two hours! It has a nice light texture so, in spite of over-using the cream and being too lazy to clean my face before each application, I never had that feeling of a greasy face that you often get on an airplane. Thank you ladies for thinking of travel packs – the perfect sizes to take in your carry-on luggage.

The best thing about this Travel Pack is that the products actually last a very long time. You only need apply a small amount and, six weeks into using them, they’re still half-full!
