Emma Cunningham has created a special collection of necklaces inspired by New Zealand birds to celebrate Cranfields’ 30th anniversary. A portion of the proceeds from this range will go to Zealandia ecosanctuary.
Designer Emma Cunningham makes sustainable jewellery from recycled materials and draws her inspiration from nature and is concerned with the preservation of it. These values align with those of Wellington-based business Cranfields, a family-owned business that stocks beautiful, hand-crafted, bespoke New Zealand products.

The limited edition collection includes the Tui Song Necklace, Teike Song Necklace, Toutouwai Song Necklace, Korimako Song Necklace and Hihi Song Necklace. Each priced at $450.
From the pearls and knotted silk, to the one-off sand casted moulds used to shape pewter, silver, copper and brass, every aspect of these necklaces symbolises how precious these native birds are.
The Tui Song Necklace, for example, combines hand-knotted pearls with a sancast, pewter medalian and a striking silver feather.
Celebrating its 30th birthday is a huge milestone for Cranfields and its owners – Valerie Cranfield and her daughter Nicola. The family hopes that the best for their company is still to come: “Part of the future is being responsive to the values of New Zealanders – I think we have shared goals about valuing what is special, about reducing and avoiding waste, and about spending our hard earned money on things which are enduring, which ‘speak’ to us, and which make us feel proud.”
