The quality of our breath is so important because it is so deeply linked with our nervous system which regulates our relaxation and rest response, but also our activity and stress response.
So when we are stressed, we produce stress hormones, such as cortisol or adrenaline. That means our nervous system is constantly stimulated and heightened. And our breath gets shorter.
However, the nervous system also has the capacity to soothe and to regulate us so we can actually wind down and relax. Then different hormones will be released.
With the power and the depth of our breath, we can actually tap into our nervous system and make big shifts happen in every moment.
