In two days’ time (22nd March), Amarna Christensen will be climbing up Mount Maunganui 38 times in just 24 hours! To put this into perspective, that equates to climbing the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, or walking approximately 2420 flights of stairs! Amanda wants to raise money for Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust.
The Mount Everest Challenge is a well-known activity in the Bay and involves climbing the Mount 38 times in 50 days – the total distance you would cover climbing Everest.
Amarna Christensen is going for a totally different approach. She aims to cover this distance in just 24 hours! The purpose behind this tremendous effort is to raise money for Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust. It’s a lifeline with the mission to reduce the rate of suicide and suicidal behaviour in New Zealand. They’re dedicated to reaching a goal of zero suicides in the health care system.
‘Unfortunately I lost a family member not so long ago and I know many people that have and are suffering with mental health issues. Inspired by the amazing work that the Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust does, I want to support them by raising money and giving back to those in need.’ says Amarna.
If you want to support Amarna and the Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust, visit her Give A Little page to donate money before 30th April 2019.
