In focus: V & V mylks, banana bread mix and other things we loved

In focus is a fortnightly, online update on things that the focus team has loved. New places we have discovered, food we’ve enjoyed and events that have made us happy – here’s a glimpse into our lives from the past two weeks.

The Nourished Eatery banana bread mix

Imagine if you only needed four ingredients and 20 minutes to bake the most delicious treat ever! Well, now you can stop imagining and make it your reality by visiting thenourishingbaker.com. The owner of Tauranga’s beloved vegan cafe, The Nourished Eatery, Sharna McElligot came up with a cool idea to sell ready-to-bake banana bread mixes. A bag of this goodness, a few bananas, oil and vanilla essence is all you need! The best part? Pre-made by a professional chef mixture means you can’t go wrong with proportions and the final result will taste amazing even if you baked it with your eyes closed.

We loved adding a few pieces of thinly sliced lemons on top for a bit of acidity (and decoration) as well.

P.S. There is an enticing $5 discount for the mix online now!

Black & White Invisible Silky Smooth Deodorant, Nivea

It’s great when a deodorant never lets you down with what deodorants are meant to do in the first place – protecting you from unwanted smells! But how amazing is it when the deodorant also protects your clothes from stains and your sensitive underarm skin from irritation! This perfect combo is already available in stores nationwide and will cost you only $5-$7.

NIVEA Black & White Invisible Silky Smooth Deodorant contains skin conditioners that leave your skin soft, velvety smooth and free from irritation, even after shaving. And, in its formula, there’s no ethyl alcohol that can cause that burning sensation on your skin.

We also love the delicate aroma of Champaca and Mandarin leaves with a hint of Damascus rose and golden orchid.

V & V mylks

At focus HQ we’re great fans of Vigour and Vitality’s creamy nut and seed mylks for our smoothies, coffee and, at this time of year, hot chocolate drinks. The raw mylks have no nasty preservatives or additives and it’s really easy to whip up a small batch at the beginning of the day. Just add one tablespoon of your favourite mylk to 250mls of filtered water and blend, shake, or if you’re lucky enough to have a steam wand (which sadly, we don’t), froth. The mylk concentrates have a shelf life of one year and you’ll get 3 litres out of a 250ml bottle.

One of V & V’s main brand values is to be authentic and peaceful towards the world and all who inhabit it. Through creating this line of wholesome, no sugar-added and stone-ground mylk concentrate, they are pioneering a new generation of drinks that nourish and revitalise the body. You might want to try our Açaí  Bowl recipe which can be made using one of the nut mylks.

Prices start at $9.95 and there are 15 different flavours.
