What does being highly intuitive mean and how to tap into your inner knowing

Intuition might just be a whisper, but as we spend time connecting with our inner voice, it begins to get louder. Intuition is more noticeable when you are reflective, mindful and still. Aim not to overthink, but to listen to the answers that already lie within you.

“Intuition is the whisper of the soul.”  – Jiddu Krishnamurti

Being highly intuitive means:

  • You can pick up on your inner voice.
  • You understand what your intuition is telling you.
  • You often choose to listen to this gut feeling.
  • You feel a sense of inner knowing.
  • You believe answers and truth are within you.

Developing intuition takes time and observation. You must become more aware of yourself, and you must become aware of the ways your intuition speaks to you.

Your intuition is here to reveal the truth.

Trusting your intuition is all about trusting yourself – and the more trust you cultivate within yourself, the deeper your connection to your intuition will be.

Trust grows with the courage to experiment and play with different options, and then FEEL what is the right thing.

Trust goes along with allowing ourselves to take detours and make mistakes, so we can extract the lessons learnt and move forward with this wisdom.

What does intuition feel like?

  • A ‘knowing’ that something will happen
  • An unexplained feeling that you can’t shake
  • A feeling that you don’t understand, but later becomes clear by an event that occurs
  • Feeling strong emotions towards someone or something, and later understanding these feelings were correct
  • Flashes or glimpses of situations that seem to come out of nowhere

Connecting with our intuition is a dance between asking specific questions and the capacity to listen to and to receive the right answers. The more clearly you pose your questions to your innate wisdom, the clearer the answers will be.

Asking questions has so much power when it comes to connecting with our intuition.

12 ways to tap into your inner knowing:

1. Meditate often. Intuition arises during quieter times.

2. Take a chance on following your gut instinct. See what happens. You may be surprised.

3. Start doing daily body scans. Acknowledge how your body really feels, and what it is telling you.

4. Spend time outside to decompress and connect with nature.

5. Take a break from technology. Do a purposeful technology detox.

6. Ask your intuition a question. Do the answers seem to arrive in your mind? Take note and reflect.

7. Journal. This overrides your conscious mind, and allows deeper things to come to the surface.

8. Draw, doodle, or art journal. This visual technique can help you see your thoughts.

9. Start a dream notebook. What are your dreams telling you?

10. Make a vision board. Visualise your brightest future, and consider your dreams for yourself.

11. Work with tarot cards. This can help uncover intuitive thoughts.

12. Act fast. Don’t overthink. Acknowledge suggestions from your gut.

Creating a safe, sacred space within you and around you is the fertile soil that will nurture your capacity to be intuitive.
