Feel like you could do with a break from alcohol? How about giving the booze a break for July and raising some much needed money for worthwhile organisations in New Zealand.
Dry July is a fundraiser that challenges you to go alcohol-free and raise funds for New Zealanders affected by cancer. By participating, you will help Look Good Feel Better NZ, PINC & STEEL NZ and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand, to improve the comfort, care and wellbeing of people affected by cancer.
Since Dry July launched in New Zealand in 2012, 54,000 Kiwis have been inspired to go dry and $7,8 million has been raised to benefit cancer patients, their families and carers.
If this resonates with you, it’s not too late to sign up.
And, if you’re missing the idea of an alcoholic cocktail and haven’t had the pleasure of tasting a crisp beverage, then let me introduce to you Seedlip.
Seedlip was founded in the UK in 2014 by former luxury brand designer Ben Branson, named for the ‘seedlip’ baskets used to carry seeds when hand-sowing.
Branson stumbled upon a book – The Art of Distillation by John French, a physician – which contained a collection of recipes for herbal remedies and, inspired by his own farming heritage, interest in nature, and a desire to find a less sweet, non-alcoholic drink, Branson began distilling herbs grown in his home garden.
Fast forward to today! Seedlip is now one of the top brands in the non-alcoholic drinks arena. Seedlip offers three varieties of flavours – Spice 94, Grove 42 and Garden 108.
To help you along in your month of no alcohol, we thought a few mocktail recipes would be very useful to you:
And, you’ll definitely want to give the Grove Ginger Highball a try!
