Every two weeks we share all the stuff we’ve recently enjoyed – from the latest TV shows to must-try foods, gorgeous makeup products and the most exciting spots to visit in New Zealand.
MAMAKU BLUE
Did you know that the National Kidney Foundation ranks blueberries as #1 for their antioxidant power? And the humble little blueberry is also jam-packed with Vitamin C and can provide us with a more resilient immune system, cleaner blood, a stronger heart and a more focused mind.
Of course, fresh blueberries aren’t available all year round BUT, the great news is that MAMAKU BLUE, who grow blueberries, have created a 100% pure blueberry juice that contains over 900 New Zealand blueberries in each bottle. You can drink the delicious MAMAKU BLUE pure blueberry juice neat or mixed with water.
MAMUKU BLUE has also developed a pure blueberry powder which contains the highest quality blueberries and this can be added to smoothies, baking or mixed with water and taken as a health tonic.
We love blueberries and both options – the juice and the powder – are really versatile to use. Our current favourite is a blueberry and banana smoothie with almond milk.
Hop onto their website for other blueberry options – Blueberry Dog Bones, Blueberry Chutney, Blueberry Wine and Cider. You might also want to book a small group tour around the orchard and winery where you’ll enjoy tasting a range of their products.
Anihana
You may remember we wrote about beauty brand Ahhh – well they’ve just rebranded to Anihana – a beautiful combination of names dear to the founder, Sophie Cooper’s, heart.
We were sent a gift box with a great selection of their handcrafted hair and body products and on opening the package, E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E who walked through the door commented on the gorgeous heady aroma in our office and wanted to inspect the products.
Sarah: “The Lemongrass Shower Steamer was a wonderful treat. You place the tablet on the shower floor and it dissolves whilst you are showering. Beautiful essential oils are slowly released – just gorgeous. On a different occasion, I also tried the Raspberry & Vanilla Sugar Scrub Bar which was great.”
Dee: “Watching the Grapefruit and Lime Bath Bomb fizzing around the bathtub as it dissolved was so much fun – and that’s before I even got into the bath. And then indulging in the Manuka Honey & Almond Shampoo Bar and Conditioner and Peach Smoothie soap… well, it was all glorious. I did smell very fruity and our apartment had a lovely aroma for hours.”
Free from nasties and with no plastic going to landfill – these ethical products have a growing fan base both locally and abroad. Made right here in New Zealand the products are available online and at select New World, Pak n Save and Bargain Chemist stores.
Farrah’s Low Carb Wraps
Wraps are just the most versatile food items ever and when they’re low carb, well, that just makes them even better. Farrah’s Wraps are already well-known throughout New Zealand but their fans also wanted a low carb option too so Farrah’s went to work and launched three flavours to choose from – Plant Based Protein with hemp and pea protein, Supergrains with a blend of chia seeds and quinoa, and Original.
Each wrap contains only 9 grams of carbs but let’s make one thing clear… just because they are low carb doesn’t mean they aren’t tasty.
The wraps are the perfect size (there are six in each pack) and super-versatile for lunch boxes, snacks or full-on meals. Each wrap has only 9g of carbs, 90 calories and contains 25% of our daily fibre. The wraps should be kept at room temperature and used within 5 days of opening but you can also freeze them for up to 3 months.
Hop onto the Farrah’s website to get some inspiration for yummy ideas.
