Behind the Scenes – December Cover

Before we knew it, it was time for another focus cover shoot! Rain had been forecast for most of the day, however, the weather gods favoured us and, apart from the wind, we managed to escape the rain and capture some fabulous photos.

We had put out a call to readers to nominate an unsung heroine – someone in the community who they felt had worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help others. Someone who was deserving and selfless and who would be a great example to us all.

We waded through the entries and chose Jo Wills, Jan Ozanne and Ann Kerewaro as the heroines who would grace the summer edition of focus.

Prior to the photoshoot, and to make them feel extra special, our heroines were treated to a hair makeover package at Ivy Hair. On the day of the shoot, the women enjoyed another pampering session with Jadine Bennett and Hillary Pound at the Mount Maunganui salon. Makeup artist Lillybeth Melmoth worked her magic and Magazine Clothing organised a co-ordinated outfit for each lady.

Under Nikki South’s expert eye, we braved the elements and captured some magical shots for the December/January issue of focus.

To say thanks for all the work they have done in the community, we presented each woman with gifts that included a dinner gift voucher from Amphora on The Strand, beauty products from HZP+Co and Honor Body Scrubs and a gorgeous bouquet from Flowers by Tami.

We are always so grateful to the women who work behind the scenes to bring each cover to fruition – meet the team who pulled this photoshoot together: Nikki South (Nikki South Photography), Jadine Bennett (Ivy Hair), Lillybeth Melmoth (Lillybeth Melmoth Makeup) and Hillary Pound (Ivy Hair).
