As New Zealand moves to Alert Level 3 on Tuesday next week, Tauranga cafes and restaurants are updating their websites and online payment systems so that we can enjoy some of our favourite meals again. Though we won’t be able to stay for a friendly chat with the barista just yet, we will be able to indulge in something special that we haven’t had to prepare ourselves and supporting local businesses at the same time. Here are some of the amazing things to look forward to.
The Nourished Eatery
Sharna McElligott, whos vegan hotcakes are to die for, was one of the first to announce the changes to her business. She’s been working on the online menu for a while now and will offer both local delivery and pick up. She will offer the most (if not all) options from her usual menu and will even bring you coffee! All payments will have to be made online and you get 10% off your first order. Of course, the service is not available yet but you can already pre-order for next week. Just click on the big yellow button on her website.
Lady Marmelade Eatery

These cuties from Second Ave plan to update their menu every week of the Level 3 lockdown. Starting this Tuesday, they’ll be prepping meals such as those on the left.
To receive your delicious dinner next week, you’ll have to make up your mind by Friday, 24th April, 12pm, and give them a call or text at 027 965 8809. You can also email your order to ladymarmaladeeatery@gmail.com.
You’ll then receive a text message when your order is ready for pick up. Delivery is also possible but should be discussed in advance.
Pay online or via paywave when collecting your meals.
Alpino
Pappardelle, Melanzana All Parmigiana, Pizza Parma Rucola – their lockdown menu was nowhere near THAT! Luckily for us, a slice of Italy at The Mount is back for takeaway service with all their popular dishes waiting for you. Pre-orders are already open.
Clarence Bistro
Clarence created their takeaway menu and safety practices way back in March, a few days before the Level 4 announcement. We even mentioned this in this article. Now we’ll finally be able to devour their mouthwatering meals in the comfort of our own homes. Wagyu Beef Burger with blue cheese mayo, Gruyere, bacon and caramelised onion, anyone?
Ours Cafe
According to the announcement on their website, Ours will be delivering their colourful, nourishing meals. They will also open their doors at 7am and operate till 9pm, seven days per week for takeaways.
Brooklyn Patio
The Strand’s hot spot re-opens on Wednesday with selected items from their menu available both for delivery and contactless takeaways. Wood-fired pizzas and juicy burgers are back, baby! You can order directly from their website.
Mixture Eatery
Though it’s not quite clear how exactly Mixture will be operating under Level 3, it’s nevertheless obvious that The Mount favourite is back in business, at least for takeaways, starting Tuesday .
