Turua Gallery and Enamoured Books invite you to explore Between the Lines, a striking new exhibition featuring bold, energetic drawings by artist Dominique Marriott. This curated showcase runs from Friday, 8th August until 18th August, held at Enamoured Books in Remuera, Auckland’s first-ever romance dedicated Bookstore.
Dominique’s work draws directly from live nude models, with each energetic piece created in short bursts during rapid-paced sessions. Her fluid, confident brushwork captures motion, essence, and emotion in human form. Rooted in her 2015 Unitec Visual Arts training and refined through sumi‑ink life drawing, her technique balances spontaneity and instinct with the calm influence of Japanese calligraphic tradition.

Exclusive to this exhibition, Turua Gallery and Enamoured Books are hosting a life drawing workshop with Dominique on Thursday, 14th August, 6:30–8:30 pm, held at Enamoured Books in Remuera, Auckland. Open to beginners and seasoned drawers alike, participants will work with pencil and a live female model in the cosy, romance‑book ambiance of the store.
About the artist
Dominique Marriott became known for her minimalistic nude paintings created with sumi ink and calligraphy brushes, and her method often includes live‑painting performances. Her work skilfully merges Zen mindfulness and Eastern brushwork with Western figure-drawing traditions – resulting in expressive compositions selected from intense drawing sessions.
