We talk to ourselves all day long.
Our inner voice guides how we experience life.
One of the most beautiful, beneficial things you can do for yourself?
Make sure you cultivate loving self talk.
Affirmations are an intentional way to speak to yourself kindly – like giving a compliment to a loved one.
Affirmations are repeated on purpose, so they become ingrained in who we are.
Make your affirmations short so they’re easier for you to remember.
Even statements as short as four or five words can be powerful.
Start your affirmations with “I” or “My.”
Because you’re making a statement about yourself, it’s most effective if it starts with you.
“I choose to be positive” is much better than “Positive thoughts are coming into my mind.”
Create affirmations that feel light and invite you onto a path of joy and ease.
You have to believe what your loving self talk is saying.
If you don’t believe your statement, you’ll take timid actions and be hesitant, certain that you won’t be able to succeed.
If you write an affirmation that is truly difficult for you to believe, write another one that starts with, “I am open to…” or “I am willing to believe I could …”
Here are some inspiring and empowering affirmations:
I am strong
I have strength
I am determined and successful
I am a good and worthwhile person
I am a unique and special person
I have inner strength and resources
I am confident and competent
Affirmations can be deeply tied to emotion.
Add emotion to your affirmations by inserting, “I am [emotion] about . . .” or “I feel [emotion].”
For example, you could say, “I am excited about being able to express what I think.”
This is a beautiful way to create a more positive view of your life and experiences.
Cut the negative self talk by reversing it.
Choose one negative thought you have about yourself and write down the positive opposite that counteracts that belief.
For example, you may often think, “I make so many mistakes.”
In this case, you would write an affirmation like, “I am capable and experienced.”
What does loving self talk sound like?
I am a loving person
I have a lot to be proud of
I have all that I need
I am in charge of my life
I can achieve the things that are important to me
I make wise decisions based on what I know and feel
I’m moving towards my goals
I accept myself as a unique and worthwhile person
My life has meaning and purpose
I am in charge of my choices
I am strong and healthy
I am calm and confident
I have many options and can make wise decisions
Everything is getting better every day
I am calm and relaxed
Aim to inspire and empower yourself with your daily affirmations. Take the positive affirmation you need today and before you know it your loving self talk will become your second nature.
