Chris Duggan was inspired to set up the House of Science in 2013, after reading an Education Review Office report that the majority of primary schools didn’t feel there was an effective science programme in place for primary schools.

What’s the first thing you do upon waking to ensure you have a healthy, happy day? Mornings are called the most important part of the day – the way we spend them affects our mood and achievements for the next 24 hours. But how do you get your mind and body into gear?

Boomerang Bags is a community-driven initiative tackling plastic pollution at the grassroots. It kicked off in Australia in 2013 and has spread to communities throughout the world.

Earlier this year my husband gave a speech on TRUST to a local networking group. I found the topic inspired the listeners and, since focus is all about stimulating, inspiring and empowering our readers, asked if I could turn this into an article for the magazine.

Before we knew it, it was time for another focus cover shoot! Rain had been forecast for most of the day, however, the weather gods favoured us and, apart from the wind, we managed to escape the rain and capture some fabulous photos.

Rebecca could not feel the lump and had no reason to think anything was wrong…but she did have reason to trust her intuition.

Kathryn Clout was recovering from a broken ankle when she felt a lump in her breast. Two tiny lumps were discovered in different quadrants of her breast-both so small doctors were incredulous she had felt anything at all.

Emily’s experience began last year. She felt a lump but as she was still breast feeding, thought lumpy breasts were fairly normal and didn’t think much of it. She figured the doctor would say it was nothing…
